Our Story
The Birth of the Flourish Community Hub
The Flourish Community Hub launched in the Fall of 2023 as a ministry of Flourish Church. Founded in March 2023 by Pastor Dexter Harris, Flourish Church carries a mission to inspire devotion to God and the advancement of others through acts of love and service.
Pastor Harris envisioned the church as more than a Sunday gathering—it would serve as a source of flourishing and transformation for the city.
Listening to the Community
Shortly after the church’s founding, leadership began turning vision into action. They conducted resident surveys and met with local service organizations to uncover Gary’s most pressing needs.
The findings were eye-opening: while the needs were significant, local service organizations often operated in silos, limiting their ability to create long-term impact.
Leadership realized that fostering collaboration among Gary’s service organizations would be key to creating sustained, meaningful change. They leveraged years of service relationships to build partnerships and pool resources for maximum impact.
Transforming Space, Transforming Lives
With funding secured, the church’s 20,000-square-foot building was transformed into the Flourish Community Hub—a welcoming “one-stop shop” for holistic social services.
Today, the Flourish Community Hub is home to over 15 partner organizations. Together, they provide a wide range of services, including youth mentorship, individual counseling, addiction recovery, and access to basic resources.
The Hub is a testament to the power of collaboration and a commitment to seeing Gary flourish.
